Despite being a cat, Ruki honestly hated walking around in his true form. It required him to use his naked feet and also hands. And why did this bother him so much? Well. The roads in Wonderland were, as a matter of fact, very rocky, which caused him to chip his nails (and dear God how much Ruki hated it when his nails were ruined!). It didn't seem like anyone had thought about getting rid of all the harsh pebbles from the streets. But then again, not everyone knew what it felt like having to wander around the land in a cat form.
Ruki had his choices; he could transform into a human form anytime he wanted, but tonight this choice didn't seem safe. He couldn't tell why exactly. Maybe it was his cat instinct telling him something--something that would probably happen sooner or later tonight.
He looked up at the skies and noticed how bright it actually was. Without the clouds covering it, the moon was a large, creepy, pale orb that shined freely through the night. What could possibly happen in a night like this? But again, he couldn't ignore the ugly feeling in the pit of his stomach. It definitely meant something, although he would have to wait to see what this something was.
The village was quiet. Too quiet, Ruki thought. Passing by a familiar house he saw that the light was on inside it (the curtain was visible through the windowpane; Ruki grimaced at how horribly weird the pattern was). "Eccentric people, eccentric taste," he said quietly (in a cat's tongue, of course), shook his head, and walked ahead leaving the house behind.
He hadn't gone as far as ten kitten steps when something crashed like a thunderstorm exploding right before his eyes.
